Dr. Tristan Shockley grew up in San Diego, CA and relocated to the east coast to complete his educational training. At Howard University he graduated magna cum laude with a major in Chemistry and minor in Biology. He matriculated to Howard University's College of Medicine where he completed his medical degree in 2005. After completing a medical internship in Phoenix, AZ he went on to specialty training in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore/University of Maryland. As an American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation certified physician, Dr. Tristan Shockley's interests include musculoskeletal medicine, non-surgical interventional pain medicine including fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided procedures, weight management, prolotherapy, and other general physiatric treatments. Dr. Tristan Shockley says, “It is gratifying to be able to listen to each patients’ story and use my clinical skills and knowledge to improve function and quality of life."
Dr. Monique Shockley is from the DC Metropolitan area and graduated with honors from the rigorous B.S/M.D program at Howard University; completing a Bachelors of Science in Biology and afterward a Doctor of Medicine in 2004. She completed a medical internship at Banner Good Samaritan/Charles T. Hayden VA in Arizona and then her specialty training at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore/University of Maryland in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 2009. Her interests include musculoskeletal medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, and general physiatry. Dr. Monique Shockley is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and believes in patient education. "Knowledge," Dr. Shockley feels, "allows patients to become active participants in their own care."
Dr. Obi Onyewu is fellowship trained and double board certified in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. A native of Washington DC, Dr. Onyewu received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Georgetown University Hospital and Pain Medicine Fellowship training at the Mid-Atlantic Pain Institute. Over the past decade, he was instrumental in training Pain Physicians through Temple University Pain Medicine Fellowship training program, where he served as the Assistant Program Director and Clinical Instructor. Dr. Onyewu has published numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters on a multitude of pain related topics. Additionally he is a member of the Editorial Board of the prestigious Pain Journal and has lectured extensively on Pain Management and Interventions. Dr. Onyewu was named one of the nation’s top 150 pain specialist to know by Becker Spine Review in 2012, as well as Vital’s Patient Choice award in 2012, and Vital’s Compassionate Doctor award for 2012 and 2013. Dr. Onyewu has a special interest in minimally invasive innovations to treat complex pain issues.
Dr. Michele Martin is originally from Hyattsville, Maryland. She was accepted to the combined Bachelor’s of Science/ Doctorate of Medicine program at Howard University in Washington, DC. Within the intense Bachelor’s of Science/ Doctorate of Medicine program, she completed undergraduate and medical degree studies on an accelerated track of 6 years. She finished her internship year at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Martin completed her residency and chief residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. At Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Martin completed an Interventional Pain Management Fellowship. She has completed additional training in obesity medicine. Her interests include myofascial pain, low back pain and complementary pain treatments.
